Eat and drink your way into a beautiful night on Lake Tahoe – M.S. Dixie

Are you looking for a pleasant evening on the blue, pristine waters of Lake Tahoe?  The M.S. Dixie is a great way to spend a night doing exactly that on the Sunset Dinner Cruise!  The cruise will take you over to Cave Rock or Rubicon Bay and then into Emerald Bay.  Dinner is served and the food is excellent.  The cruise leaves from Zephyr Cove Resort at either 6pm or 6:30pm.  Check the schedule to see times here.  The cruise costs $75, but is totally worth it!

It was about mid-summer and a few of my family members were in town for a visit.  My sister had actually never been on the lake, so what better is there to do than a sunset dinner cruise!  We got to Zephyr Cove around 6pm for the 6:30pm cruise.  We boarded the boat and were on our way off to beautiful Cave Rock.  From there the boat made its way over to Emerald Bay and we were seated for dinner.  I had the New York Steak and it was delicious.  Once dinner was over, we all went to the upper deck for some drinks and beautiful views of Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay.  The sunset was spectacular as we headed back to Zephyr Cove to dock.   What a perfect evening for my family, girlfriend and I to enjoy.  Below are some pictures!

Getting to Zephyr Cove is simple.  From South Lake Tahoe, follow Highway 50 towards Nevada.  Continue into Nevada about 2 miles from the border and you’ll see Zephyr Cove Restaurant on your left and Zephyr Cove Campground on your right.  Make a left at the light into Zephyr Cove Resort.  The M.S. Dixie will be right in front of you and you can either get tickets there or online here.  Parking does cost $8.

The M.S. Dixie is an extremely gorgeous cruise and the food is amazing too!  If you’re in Tahoe and looking for something to do in the evening, I would definitely suggest the Sunset Dinner Cruise.  They also offer a mid-day sightseeing cruise if you want to go during the day.  If you’ve been on the M.S.
